Not long ago I read a blog post by a fairly successful marketer in the IM/MLM world.
He talked about something he termed “coconut money”.
Before he made it big, his dream was of coconut money.
This was money that he could be making while drinking from a coconut on some beach.
He dreamed of having a business that would allow him to live the lifestyle of his dreams.
Of being able to work and produce income from anywhere, even some exotic beach.
Dreams of making money while drinking from a coconut on a beach are fine.I think everyone who enters the MLM or network marketing game has a vision of what their life will look like when they reach that magical, undefined level of success.But real life has never materialized from simply daydreaming.
Every person who has ever achieved a level of the success that can be categorized as “living a dream”, has worked hard to get there.
You may not dream of coconut money, but you have a fantasy of something that you wanted this business to provide for you.
Why You Aren't Making Coconut Money Now
While everyone dreams of their version of coconut money, this author went on to describe why most never actually realize this dream.
The short answer?
It takes work.
Real work.
Dreams of making money while drinking from a coconut on a beach are fine.
But real life has never materialized from simply daydreaming.
Every person who has ever achieved a level of the success that can be categorized as “living a dream”, has worked hard to get there.
The network marketing and MLM industry is no exception to this rule.
There is no magic pill, button, or program that will turn on a faucet of money flowing into your bank account without substantial effort on your part.
It just doesn't exist.
If that is what you're looking for, and you are still under the delusion that it is possible, then now would be the time to get out.
At some point your world is going to be rocked, and your dreams completely smashed to pieces.
Better that happen now, than later.
The Ugly Truth of MLM
If you joined a network marketing or MLM opportunity, then that implies business ownership.
And like any other business, this one takes real work in order to make it successful.
Daily effort, applied to income-producing activities, with high leverage, will put you on the track to success.
But make no mistake.
You will have setbacks, you will have failures.
At times you will fall flat on your face.
You will most likely just completely suck at first.
Don't worry.
This is completely normal.
Everyone sucks at first.
And failure is simply part of the learning experience.
If you are trying to go pro in a sport, you wouldn't expect to be at that level immediately.

So don't expect everything to be easy or smooth.
And don't expect piles of cash to fall on you out of the heavens.
Take the small victories.
The little wins that indicate that your skill set is increasing, that your knowledge and wisdom are growing, and that you're learning from your past experience and mistakes.
You Can Make Real Coconut Money
With some time of focused effort and determination, you can be producing coconut money for yourself.
Depending on what level of focus and intensity you put in, this could be in as little as six months, or it could take 3 to 5 years.
That part is up to you.
